Prominent social reformers Dr. Parikipandla Ashok and Ramalinga Reddy stated that the great visionary Abdul Kalam, who rose from Rameswaram to become the President of India and earned the title “Missile Man of India”, always wished that the results of scientific research should benefit the common man.
On Sunday, a state-level conference was held at Balavikas Training Center in Kazipet, marking the 10th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Organized by Lead Foundation Global with the support of Arogya Mitra and Liberty Foundation, the conference was held under the theme “Preserving a Livable Planet”, chaired by Dr. Ashok.
Intellectuals from various fields participated and guided students during the event. Speakers including Balavikas Executive Director Shauri Reddy, Nehru Yuva Kendra Coordinator Anvesh, Vandemataram Foundation’s Ravinder Rao, and Jana Vignana Vedika’s Lakshma Reddy highlighted how research such as the development of calipers for the differently-abled and affordable heart stents have directly benefited the average citizen.They emphasized that Abdul Kalam was instrumental in placing India among global superpowers in the field of rocket science.
As part of the program, essay competition winners from the six districts carved out of the erstwhile Warangal district were awarded prizes and certificates by the dignitaries. Eighteen social workers from various parts of Warangal were honored with the “Wings of Fire – 2025” awards.
Coordinators for the essay competitions from across the districts included Venuganti Shubha, Adepu Rajendraprasad, Dr. Pitta Satyam, Kusuma Krishnamohan, Mamatha, Varanasi Mohan, and Munjala Bixapathi.Dignitaries present included retired Forest District Officer Purushottam from Kazipet, Emergency Medicine specialist Dr. Chilukamari Gopinath, Dr. Malothu Ravindra Nayak, Dr. Thalla Sammayya, Dr. Darshini, Annam Foundation’s Srinivas, psychologist Nomula Venkat, NFHC Foundation’s Jatothu Jayakrishna, Organ Donation Association’s Shravan Kumar, Rotary Club’s Srinivasa Rao, and BC Study Circle retired professor Vijayakumar.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and representatives from all over the unified Warangal region. A Kuchipudi dance performance by Kumari Nalla Kaushik and a mimicry act by Srinivas captivated the audience.
