15.08.2025 Eetaram Bharatham Khammam: On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day today, local MLA and Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, along with local public representatives and prominent citizens, participated in the flag hoisting ceremony at his office. Khammam Municipal Mayor Neeraja hoisted the tricolour and received the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tummala’s son, Tummala Yugandhar, said that today is the sacred day when, setting aside caste and religion, every Indian should remember the countless great leaders who fought to break the shackles of slavery under foreign rule. On August 15, 1947, they drove out the British, hoisted the tricolour over the Red Fort, and brought freedom and independence to the people of the country.Those present at the programme included local corporator Mikkilineni Manjula Narendra, District Congress Party President Duraprasad, Sadhu Ramesh Reddy, Kondabala Koteshwar Rao, Kamartapu Murali, Balasani Lakshminarayana, Deputy Mayor Mukhtar Fatima Johar, Manukonda Radha Kishore, Thumpala Krishna Mohan, Nagalla Deepak Choudhary, Bala Gangadhar Tilak, Chote Baba, Khadar Baba, Ashraf, district women’s wing secretary Dobbala Soujanya, labour union leader Narala Mohan, and several others.
