Thorough inquiry demanded into the rice issue at the Vanaparthi BC hostel : Demands raised by PDSU, BC Political JAC, and Banjara Tribal Students’ Union

Eetarambharatam Vanaparthi, August 22:

Leaders from the Progressive Democratic Students’ Union (PDSU), BC Political JAC, and Banjara Tribal Students’ Union stated that serious suspicions and discrepancies have come to light regarding the rice allocated for student meals at the Vanaparthi Government BC College Boys’ Hostel.

They reported that information received and preliminary checks revealed that only 25 quintals of rice were delivered to the hostel, whereas 46 quintals were supposed to be supplied. Following a complaint lodged with the Additional Collector (Revenue) regarding this matter, the Vanaparthi Tahsildar visited the hostel under the official’s orders, inspected the relevant records and rice stocks, and conducted an official inspection (panchanama).According to the details recorded in the inspection report, the leaders stated that Hostel Warden Narender Reddy claimed 15 quintals of rice had been taken as a “hand loan” on August 13, 2026. However, they stated that when they contacted the relevant warehouse officials, the staff claimed there were no records indicating that 15 quintals of rice had been issued to the hostel as a “hand loan.”

Where exactly did the 15 quintals of rice go?

Leaders from student organizations—including PDSU State President K. Pavan Kumar, Devara Shiva Goud (Town President), Mahender Naidu, Dharmendra, Raju, Balavardhan, and Banjara tribal student Shiva Naik—demanded answers to the following questions in a statement issued today: If there are no issuance details in the warehouse records, where did the 15 quintals of rice come from? Where was it transported? Who received it? And where was it consumed?

They also demanded a comprehensive inquiry involving the cross-verification of all relevant records, including the rice stocks recorded during the *panchanama* (official inspection report), the stock register, warehouse issuance details, transport vehicle particulars, and records related to the “hand loan.”

No room for irregularities regarding students’ food rice

The leaders asserted that the rice allocated by the government to students in BC (Backward Classes) hostels is the right of these underprivileged students; they urged officials to maintain strict supervision to ensure that not even a single kilogram of this rice is diverted.

Why were only 25 quintals received instead of 46 quintals?

Where is the warehouse record for the 15-quintal “hand loan”? They demanded that the district administration provide clear answers to the following questions:

Why is there a discrepancy between the actual rice stocks and the stock register?

What are the details regarding the transportation of the rice?

Who is responsible for this?

A comprehensive inquiry must be conducted based on the panchanama (official inspection report) carried out on August 21, 2026.

The stock registers of the hostel and the warehouse must be cross-verified. Warehouse records regarding the transaction involving the 15-quintal “hand loan” (temporary transfer) of rice need to be examined.Details concerning the vehicle used for transport, the driver, and the specifics of transportation and delivery must be scrutinized.

An audit should also be conducted on past records regarding rice stocks, indents, mess consumption, and diet bills. If the inquiry confirms irregularities, strict departmental and legal action must be taken against those responsible. If it is established that the government has incurred a financial loss, the amount must be recovered from the responsible parties. Special monitoring mechanisms must be established to ensure that students consistently receive quality meals and adequate quantities of rice.

“Rice meant to feed students must not be diverted. An impartial inquiry must be conducted into the issues revealed by the panchanama, and strict legal action must be taken against anyone found guilty, regardless of who they are. Officials must not treat this matter lightly but must conduct a thorough, full-scale investigation,” they demanded.
