Osmania University Vice-Chancellor, intellectual, eminent educationist, Professor and Administer Prof. M. Kumar Mulugam has been selected for the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Excellence Award 2026, instituted in connection with National Teachers’ Day and the birth anniversary of former President of India and Bharat Ratna awardee Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Dr. Raj Narayan Mudiraj, State President of the Telangana Intellectuals Forum, Telangana State Branch, announced this in a press release today. He stated that Prof. Kumar Mulugam has been selected as the one recipient from the State of Telangana for this year’s prestigious award.
The award will be presented at a special felicitation programme to be held at 10:00 AM on September 4, 2026, at the VC Lodge Hall, Osmania University. Prof. Kumar will be felicitated in the presence of professors and educationists with a shawl, memento, floral garland, and certificate of appreciation.
Prof. Kumar, who is serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, is widely recognised as an eminent civil engineering educationist and researcher. He has rendered more than 30 years of dedicated service in the field of education, particularly in higher education.
At present, he is serving as a senior Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the University College of Engineering, Osmania University, and has made significant contributions to both teaching and research.
Prof. Kumar has authored more than 100 research papers in international and national journals. He has also been associated with more than 90 OER registrations and has guided several Ph.D. theses.
He has received several prestigious awards and recognitions, including the Best Teacher State Award from the Government of Telangana in 2018, the Telangana Government Engineering Award for the year 2018, and the Visvesvaraya Best Faculty Award in 2019 from the Smart Infra Trust of India, among others.
Prof. Kumar obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Osmania University, his Master’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), and his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
His outstanding research papers received recognition at the national and international levels during 2010 and 2014.
From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Principal of the prestigious University College of Engineering. During his tenure, he led several technological reforms, including the automation of college activities and academic and administrative processes.
Dr. Raj Narayan Mudiraj further stated that Prof. Kumar has earned respect and recognition through his dedicated service in various academic and administrative positions and through his significant contributions to higher education, teaching, research, and institutional development.
