Basavaraju Srinivas, Chairman of the Telangana Brahmin Welfare Parishad, advised Kavitha, the leader of the Rakshana Sena, that hearsay leads to trouble and that one should act with this awareness. On Thursday, he spoke to the media at Gandhi Bhavan alongside Vice-Chairman Subrahmanya Prasad. He stated that the comments made by Kavitha regarding the post of Brahmin Welfare Parishad Chairman were inappropriate, noting that it is improper to attempt to divide a community by highlighting individuals’ regional origins.He clarified that there was no regional factor behind the government appointing him as Chairman; rather, the responsibility was entrusted to him with the sole intention of working for the welfare of the Brahmin community. Contrary to Kavitha’s allegations based on hearsay, he explained that he is not from the Andhra region; his ancestors hailed from the Khammam area, he was born in Nadigudem, Nalgonda district, and his entire education took place within Telangana. He expressed regret that Kavitha—the daughter of KCR, who has served as both an MP and an MLC—was unaware that positions are awarded based on capability, a spirit of service, and contributions to society, rather than just regional affiliation.
Srinivas also noted that the Brahmin community had played its part in the Telangana movement. He stated that his primary objective is the welfare of Brahmins in Telangana, including providing financial assistance to poor families, educational opportunities for students, and employment prospects for the youth.He suggested to Kavitha that the Brahmin community should be viewed beyond the realm of politics, noting that members of the community from all political parties had attended his swearing-in ceremony—a fact that could be verified by asking Brahmin individuals within the Rakshana Sena. He emphasized that the Parishad does not discriminate based on party affiliation or individuals but serves everyone; what matters is not questions about regionality, but rather what he intends to do for the Brahmin community. He remarked that Kavitha’s comments were not only personally hurtful but also insulting to the Brahmin community. Srinivas made it clear that he would work for the development of every Brahmin family in Telangana and would not back down, regardless of criticism. He advised focusing on Telangana’s development and the welfare of all sections of society rather than sowing discord through regionalist rhetoric. He reiterated that his goal is to strengthen the Brahmin Parishad as a platform for welfare rather than a political stage. He noted that the Congress government, under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy, is supporting the development of the Brahmin community in a way no other party has done. Baswaraj Srinivas also pointed out that Brahmin officials, including Minister Sridhar Babu, hold key positions across various government departments.
