The 77th memorial service for the Telangana Peasant Armed Struggle martyrs, Macha Veeraiah and Velagapudi Krishnamurthy, will be held on the 17th of this month. This was announced by Macha Vidyasagar, District President of the Praja Front.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Khammam Press Club on Wednesday, he stated that the duo sacrificed their lives on January 17, 1949, during the Telangana Peasant Armed Struggle—a movement fought for land, food, liberation, and the establishment of an egalitarian society. He noted that they were killed by the then-Nehruvian military forces.
