As per instructions of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, the Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Jaju directed officials to take stringent measures to safeguard public health. He emphasized the strict enforcement of food safety regulations across the State and instructed officials to conduct continuous inspections with special focus on adulterated food products.
The Chief Secretary chaired a review meeting with senior officials on Saturday at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Drug Control and Food Safety departments should work in close coordination to ensure effective implementation of food safety standards and regular inspections to maintain food quality, thereby ensuring the availability of safe and quality food to the public.
CS instructed officials to prepare suitable proposals within a week to bring the two existing departments onto a common platform for better coordination and efficiency. He noted that such integration would enable the departments to discharge their responsibilities more effectively. He also directed officials to study the best practices being followed in other States and prepare an appropriate implementation plan for the state. The meeting also reviewed the cases registered so far in the State, their progress, staffing, and other related issues.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble CM’s Advisor, Ex-Officio Special CS K.Ramakrishna Rao, Director General of Police C.V. Anand, CMO Principal Secretaries Sheshadri, N. Sridhar, GAD Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem, Additional Director General (Intelligence) Vijay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health Department Christina Z. Chongthu, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Health Commissioner Sangeetha, Drug Controller General Avinash Mohanty, and other senior officials.
